Beth Ann sent me her Short Vowel Sorting Game.
I love this product because my students were able to practice short vowels hands-on. I used this activity during my small group time. I began the activity by laying the vowels out.
Then I let the children work on sorting the pictures.
The kids did really well sorting the pictures. We had to review "e" and "i" on a few of the pictures.
After sorting in small groups, I waited until the next day and we did the activity again as a whole group.
This packet also comes with recording sheets which I love. The students can sort all the cards and then record the words onto their sheets. There are sheets for each of the vowels.
Since my class tended to struggle the most with letters "e" and "i", I had them practice recording for those two letters.
This packet also contains more challenging sheets if you would like to have your students record other short vowel words.
After my class sorted these cards in a small and then whole group setting, I placed the activity in centers for them to sort independently. They really enjoyed this activity.
