Kindergarten Assessments~ Print and Go!

Assessing Kindergarteners for Report Cards/Progress Reports can be a stressful time!  That is why I decided to create a Print and Go Assessment Pack that would make life easier.

This packet has assessments for both Reading and Math.  All you have to do is print the assessments and then see how your class is performing.  You may decide to keep these assessments in a large 3 ring binder or in individual pocket portfolios for each student.

Here is an example of how I assess:

I may test Everett in September using a yellow highlighter.  I would point to each uppercase letter and highlight the letters he knows.  In October, I would use a different color and then mark the letters he has added.  This particular assessment allows you to test a student up to 8 times.  I realize that is a LOT of testing, and most students would recognize letters more quickly than "Everett".  This is just a sample of how to use this assessment.

This packet comes with many printables that you can use for practice if you wish not to test your students.  I just like having these assessments for Parent/Teacher conferences.  These assessments are also a big help if you have a student that is not making adequate progress.  I have used them before when I met with Speech, Resource, ESOL, Principals, or any other member that may have a part in helping the student learn.

Write the Room Centers

When I taught Kindergarten, my students favorite part of the day (well, besides recess) was stations/centers.  They LOVED this time because they got to work independently and the learning was always fun and engaging.  I just created 4 different literacy centers that are generic and will fit well into any learning theme.  These centers practice digraphs, blends, beginning sounds and middle sounds.  There are 36 different cards for each station and 2 recording sheets.

Here is a look at the different centers:
Digraphs

Blends:

Middle Sounds:

And here is a look at one of the recording sheets.

These centers can be found in my store for 2 dollars and under!

30th Birthday!

Today is my 30th birthday!

My husband took off work yesterday.  We had planned on going to the mountains.  But, then after we saw that it was going to rain all weekend, we decided not to get the baby out.  At least my husband had the day off with us though.

Every year he buys me shoes.  :)  This year he bought me these boots.

I've been wanting some short boots that I can wear to church with a skirt or dress.  I had ordered some boots online, but they do not look right with a skirt so I will just save them to wear with jeans.

I plan on doing nothing today, but chilling with my little man.

I have put 30 products in my store on sale for 20 percent off.  Happy shopping! :)

Dog's Colorful Day Craft

At the beginning of the school year, I always love reading the story "Dog's Colorful Day".  I created a very easy craft to go along with the story.  This is a fun way to review color words.  Students simply read the word on the spot and then color.  After all the spots have been colored, students cut and paste the pieces to make his/her dog.

The Little Green Witch~ Craft and Writing

Have you read "The Little Green Witch"?  I love this story!  My parents live on the same road as my husband and myself, so I cook supper most nights for all 4 of us.  I always joke and tell them they are welcome that I think up the meal, go to the store and buy it and then come home and cook and clean... :)  I'm like the little red hen... except I share. :)  I created a craft and writing activity to go along with "The Little Green Witch".  Students can write about different things... such as, Would you have shared if you were the witch?  What would you have turned the others into?  or Students can write and draw about his/her favorite part of the story.  To see the craft in my store, click on the picture below.
