Apples, Apples, Apples

I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to share five more activities that I have added to my Apple Unit.

I love this Unit because it is very simple to prepare.  The unit requires very little prep. time because most of it is Print and Go activities with a few crafts thrown in.

I added this numbers assessment:

I have been checking my students to see which numbers they recognize.  I highlight the numbers they answer correctly and write the date at the top.  I am going to hold onto these and keep assessing throughout the year as the kids learn to recognize more numbers.  If you don't want to use this as an assessment, you could call out numbers, one at a time, and have the kids find and then color them.

This week we worked on letter T, so what better than an Apple T Tree?

Today I sliced apples in half and we made an AB pattern.  The kids had fun making these, although it was a messy activity.

We haven't completed this activity yet, but I plan on letting them use Qtips and paint to make small dots, or "apples".

And lastly, check out our cute Apple Craft.  I let the kids choose their favorite color apple and we created this fun craft.

All of these activities and much more can be found in my Apple Mini Unit.

  1. Such an adorable idea with the apples!

Having the children colour in the numbers after I've called them out would definitely be a good way to assess some of the ones I suspect rely on their table peers a bit too much.

  2. Hi Brittani! I just found your blog! It is adorable. I love your apple ideas. I tried painting my apples and pressing them in buckets this year- but must not have sliced them evenly. They were not nearly as nice as yours! They look great!
