I am linking up with Cara Carroll for my first ever Throwback Thursday.  I am throwing it back to my first blog post ever.

Welcome to Our Classroom Blog

I am very excited about starting our classroom blog.  I hope to keep you up to date on what is happening in our classroom.

We are currently learning about Arctic Animals.  Here is a look at some of the fun activities we have done in our classroom.

Students worked with a partner, taking turns rolling 2 dice.  They added the dots together and then covered the sum.  The player that covered the most numbers before time was called won.

"Now" is one of our new sight words.  The students had to find and circle all of the words "now" and then count and write how many they found for the walrus and polar bear and then decide which animal had the most.

We wrote our subtraction sentence after looking at the pictures.

We practiced saying the names of the following arctic animals and then colored ice cubes to match the number of syllables we heard.

We practiced one of our sight words.

We used the sight word race during our literacy stations.  Students worked with partners, taking turns using a spinner.  Whichever word they landed on, they colored on their recording sheet.  The first one to get their Eskimo to the igloo was the winnner!

This is a counting book that the kids used to practice feeding the penguins fish.

And lastly, this is a look at our emergent reader we used to practice one of our sight words.

I am looking forward to another great week!  I am so relieved that testing for Report Cards is finally finished!!  Now to enter all the grades...

Have a great Thursday!

  1. Isn't it fun to go back and look at your old posts. It's like when you pass back writing the kids did in September at the end of the year. LOL! Thanks for sharing! I'm also your newest follower!
